Audio is the unsung hero of events, whether it’s ensuring crystal clear speeches, soothing background ambience, or carrying the crowd along with expertly mixed live bands or DJ sets.
This might sound odd, but at its best, no-one really notices audio – they’re simply immersed in the experience, as the right equipment and operation puts DJs, bands and speakers at ease, and focused on their performance.
Bloomsbury Event Group is experienced and equipped to ensure you have the right audio set-up for your event, from PA and lighting systems to high-end audiovisual equipment, to professional DJ kit – and to the performers and playlists that make your event or project look and sound perfect. We apply our combined audio and event expertise throughout the UK and internationally, ensuring everything is in place for full clarity and impact, and for performances that linger long in the memory for all the right reasons.
When providing PA systems for events, there are several factors to consider, not least the shape of the room and its acoustic qualities, plus the size of the stage and the number of people attending (a room sounds very different when it’s empty to when the audience fills it up!). So we’ll ask you all about this, and schedule a site visit where applicable, so we can give you an informed cost for the equipment and expertise that will achieve the best audiovisual results. There isn’t an event we can’t expertly cater for – from intimate classical performances to keynote speeches, to live bands, theatrical performances and DJ sets in venues of all shapes and sizes. With top-of-the-range equipment to suit varied performances in any space, we guarantee you’ll have the best available means of being heard.
Let’s say you’re organising an away day with your team, or a meeting with prospective clients… a PA system or even a pair of easy-to-use active speakers for short films or presentations will deliver far superior sound than your laptop. You have the option of dry hire accompanied by step by step instructions or alternatively book one of our specialists to oversee your event. Or perhaps you’re hiring a band, DJ or even an orchestra, and have agreed to arrange the PA, lighting and technical support yourself. With decades of combined experience in the music and events industry, we fully appreciate the importance of good sound, for those on stage as well as those in the audience. We see our role as enablers of incredible performances, and understand that every room has unique acoustics that require expert knowledge and appropriate technology to bring events to life. From microphones to amplifiers and PA systems, to monitors, lighting and projection, our trusted sound engineers work closely with venues and musicians to ensure the right gear is in expert hands.
In some built-up areas and rural locations we’re faced with sound limiters to keep noise below a certain threshold. Fortunately, we have the technology and expertise to work within specific parameters without compromising on sound quality or enjoyment. There are many ways we can reduce the decibel levels without reducing the enjoyment factor, so please let us know if there are volume limits to consider at your event or venue, or if you need us to investigate for you. It may mean that some instruments or audio frequencies aren’t appropriate, so we’d much rather find a solution well in advance than spoil anyone’s enjoyment on the day. Often this is through liaising directly with the venue or local councils, so that’s one less thing for you to worry about.
We provide expert support and equipment for all sizes of event, and understand the acoustic characteristics of all kinds of venue. We often work in more intimate settings such as weddings and private parties in hotels, small concert and function rooms, marquees, and even in people’s homes. Marquees are popular for weddings and festivals, and often require slightly larger systems as they tend to absorb sound more than bricks and mortar do. Meanwhile, ‘tall’ venues such as wedding barns and converted warehouses tend to echo and reverberate more, and so require a different approach from our sound engineers. This ensures everyone hears the best man’s most embarrassing story about the groom, and that the wedding band or DJ then achieves the most immersive and clear sound well into the night. Ultimately, our skills lie in you not even knowing we’re there – only that everything sounds fantastic and everyone has a great time.
